Dolly-Parton

Born on Jan. 19 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn into a poor family that would eventually consist of 12 children Dolly Parton learned early to escape the hardships of life by using her vivid and far-ranging imagination. Even before learning to read or write she wrote her own songs. When she was 8years old, she purchased her first electric guitar. She began to sing at an Knoxville Tenn Radio Station. Her first album was recorded during the same year Gold Band Records, a small independent label. Although she became an established local celebrity while at the high school years, her ambitions were greater. After graduating from the high school in 1964, she immediately moved to Nashville. Dumb Blonde, Something Fishy and Dumb Blonde both charted on Monument Records in 1967. Porter Wagoner began looking for female singers to join his syndicated television program at approximately the same time. Parton began her career in the year 1967 and signed by RCA Records by 1968, and was a part of the Grand Ole Opry. She left Wagoner's show, however, in 1974 due to her albums on her own like Joshua Coat Of Many Colors and Jolene beat out their collaborative albums. The song by Parton, I Will Never Be Loved by You (for Wagoner), reached the No. #1 spot following their split. The first time it made it to number 1 was in 1974.
