Anna Paquin
Anna Paquin has been an actress across Canada as well as New Zealand for over a decade. Paquin is a native of Winnipeg, raised in Wellington and first made her acting debut as Flora McGrath when she played the role in The Piano. She won an Academy Award at the age of 11 for Best supporting Actress. Her family moved to New Zealand when she was a small child and she lived there for the rest of her life. After an audition Flora McGrath was cast as the daughter of a Scottish piano player. Flora McGrath is the child of a mute Scottish musician who came from Scotland to New Zealand to marry in the 19th century. Following her move to New Zealand, in the United States, she became a teenager. Paquin was cast as the child title in Franco Zeffirelli's Jane Eyre in 1996. Also, she was the lead role as a lead character in Fly Away Home, a film that was released in that same year. Paquin was Frankie Addams in a 1997 TV movie adaptation of Carson McCullers' novel The Member of the Wedding and had a minor role as the queen of Spain in Steven Spielberg's Amistad (1997). She played teenagers on Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (2000), A Walk on the Moon (2000). In addition, she played the role of a teen girl named Polexia Aphrodisa on Almost Famous (2000).
